Officers from the New Canaan Police Department were dispatched to the library shortly before 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, where there was a commercial burglar alarm activation at the location.
An investigation into the incident led officers to Norwalk resident Luis Palomino, 32, who was attempting to exit the library after entering the library through an unlocked door when it had closed early due to the winter weather.
Police said that it was later determined that Palomino was in possession of marijuana and he was arrested. Palomino was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, each an infraction. He is due to answer the charges later this year.
